You may download a free trial copy of the BMDPedfw Program and Berner Database.  The tutorial dogs are fully functioning for your evaluation, but some blocking restrictions apply to the rest of the database.  Printed pedigrees will have a "Trial Version" stamp on part of the pedigree but show fully how the finished pedigrees will look on your printer.

During your 30-day evaluation period, you may contact us through our Forum or via Email with your program or database concerns.   We are eager to help!

If you decide you like the software and database, you may purchase a Licence to permanently activate your trial copy; please click the Purchase link at the left.

BMDPedfw has been a labor of love for us -- a love of the breed.  Development has proceeded over the years from our early DOS version to this new Windows version.  All revenues from this project are reinvested in this development program and in collecting data to enhance the Bernese Mountain Dog breed.  Please respect our copyright.

Click below to download the program and (optionally) the dog pictures.  The file sizes to be downloaded will vary depending on your system configuration.  The pictures are optional and may be downloaded with the BMDimages.exe selection.  In the future, you may update just the program with BMDsetup.exe without having to download all the pictures again.

IF YOU HAVE ADDED EXPERIMENTAL DOGS to your database: Please note that when you reload the program from here, you will also reload the latest copy of the database, and ANY EXPERIMENTAL DOGS YOU HAVE ENTERED WILL BE LOST.   A future version may address this issue.  Any of your personal Memo Notes you have added to the database will remain intact.

Important note to users who downloaded the program prior to May 15, 2007 (versions earlier than 1.40): please download the BMDsetup.exe program again and INSTALL IT FIRST, and then come back to this site and download the images if you wish to have them.  In all future versions, updating the BMDsetup.exe program from here will not erase and reinstall the images.

Notice to ALL USERS:  During this development period, we are making changes and additions to the program on a regular basis.  Please return here and download the BMDsetup.exe program from time to time (only when the Version number below is greater than your version number).  All downloads are free and your existing Licence will remain valid without having to re-install it. 
Versions 1.50 and after will automatically check for available updates and notify you.

Notice for AOL users:

Sometimes AOL will truncate a file while downloading it.  If you receive an error message from the InstallAware program that the file appears corrupted or needs a password, please try this:  close up your AOL software and open Internet Explorer.  Navigate back to this page and download and run the software again.   If the problem remains, please check our Forum or contact us for assistance.

Minimum system requirements:

Web access is required to download this program and register it, and for future updates.  It will not be available on CD-ROM.  For normal running, web access is optional.

BMDPedfw runs on Microsoft Windows©  operating systems with Pentium-style processors.  We recommend Windows XP or Vista although performance on Windows 2000 should prove satisfactory.  We have been unsuccessful in installing the program on Windows ME and will not be supporting it at this time (but you may try it if you wish).  We do not support Windows 98 in any way, have done no testing on that operating system and it will be rejected by the Installation program.

The program has been run on iMACs with the Leopard operating system.  We do not support this directly, but you can find the details on our forum from a user who has been successful doing this.  Click here.

100Mb of free disk space, including the 35Mb of dog images.

256Mb of RAM memory (512Mb highly recommended).  The program will not install if you have less than 256Mb of RAM.

500Mhz processors will be functional, but searching and inbreed/sexlink calculations will perform more satisfactorily on faster machines.  

We have tested extensively on 1.2Ghz and 2.4Ghz Intel and AMD hardware and found the performance to be excellent.

We will not be supporting other platforms (Mac, Linux, Unix) now or in the future.

Licence Code:

BMDPed is licensed for multiple users on a single computer.  If you wish to install your licence on a second computer (such as your laptop), please contact us.

During or after your trial period, you may purchase a Licence by going to the Purchase page.  

When your purchase is complete and you have received your receipt ID from PayPal, you may apply for your Licence code by doing the following:  

• Start the program (download the program from the link above if you have not already done so).
   
• Click on the "Register and/or Install Licence" button on the opening screen (also can be found on the Help menu under Licence & Registration).  
  
• Follow the instructions to register via the web (click on the "Register" button).   
  
• You will receive your Licence code by email shortly afterwards.  
  
• Follow the simple directions in the email for installing the Licence.  If you are running Windows Vista, please see instructions here for installing the licence code.
  
• Please make sure your spam filter will allow messages from register@bmdped.com.

We do not collect any information whatsoever from your computer.
