Windows Vista users will likely see this error message when trying to start BMDPedfw versions 1.41 or earlier:

"Database Error: Network Initialization Failed"

Windows Vista, because of added security features, restricts access to certain folders that our Paradox Database normally requires.

Subsequent versions of BMDPedfw (after 1.41) will have this problem fixed, but here's a Quick Fix that will allow the current version (v1.41) to operate under Windows Vista:

1.  Right-click on the icon (or the START menu item) that starts BMDPedfw
2.  Click on "Properties"
3.  Click on the "Compatibility" tab
4.  Check the box marked "Run this program as an Administrator"
5.  Click on OK.

Run BMDPedfw again.  As the program starts you will see a pop-up box entitled "User Account Control" - just click "Allow" for the program to load successfully.

You will have to click on "Allow" each time the program starts, until our next version is released.

We have addressed this particular Vista problem with the release of version 1.42 which is now available for free download on our site www.bmdped.com.  You should be able to uncheck the requirement to run in administrator mode and that will eliminate the need to keep telling windows you trust the program before it can run.

I would appreciate any feedback you can give me on this as to your success or failure with it.

Thanks,
Dave
