Running under Windows Vista

This Windows Vista issue has hopefully been resolved with the release of version 1.60 and subsequent. Please advise if you still have this compatibility issue so that we can take further steps to resolve it.

Windows Vista has many levels of security that can make it challenging to do certain things.

We have had reports that some installations of Vista will not allow BMDPed to access its database correctly. This manifests itself as an error like this:

We are working to resolve this Vista issue, but for the time being, the following is a simple work-around:

Start up BMDPedfw by right-clicking on the BMDPedfw icon on your desktop (or alternately in the Start->All Programs->Bmdpedfw->Bmdpedfw menu), click on "Properties", click the "Compatibility" tab and check the choice "Run this program as an Administrator" then click OK.

It should look something like this:

BMDPed will now run in "Administrator Mode", allowing access to the database.

This box should remain checked for the future, so all you should have to do is click on the icon normally after that. Vista may ask you a question or two and the answer should be obvious.
